Senior Project Manager

Lonnie Smallwood is the Senior Project Manager for Georgia EMC, specializing in the recruitment of new industry to the State of Georgia for the purpose of job creation and capital investment. Through partnerships with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, The Georgia Allies, and other site-selection professionals, Lonnie assists companies by matching their project needs with relevant properties and communities, managing site and building visits, and facilitating meetings with state and local leadership. In addition, Lonnie provides strategic assistance to communities marketing themselves to prospective industry.

Prior to joining Georgia EMC in August 2017, Lonnie was the Senior Industrial Business Development Manager for Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG). Smallwood also served for 7 years in the political field, working for Governor Sonny Perdue, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, and managing issue campaigns such as the Metro Atlanta Regional Transportation Referendum (TSPLOST). In addition to his political work in Georgia, Lonnie also spent four years as the Corporate Affairs Project Manager with Century Strategies in Duluth, GA, where he assisted clients with national legislative and public policy. Lonnie received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Georgia.
